Paul Scriven signs the NUS Funding Our Future pledge with elected student officers from the University of Sheffield
Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Sheffield Central has promised to lend his voice, and his vote, to a student led campaign against future tuition fee hikes.

Paul met with student representatives at both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam Student's Unions to sign the NUS 'Funding our Future' pledge. He promised that if elected as MP for Sheffield Central at the next election he would vote against any increase in tuition fees and would fight for a fairer alternative to funding higher education in the UK.
He also discussed the Liberal Democrat commitment to abolish tuition fees in the first six years of a Liberal Democrat Government, a pledge which was welcomed by the union officers.
Paul said:
"I am 100% committed to supporting the NUS Funding our Future Pledge. Liberal Democrats were the only party who argued against the introduction of Tuition Fees in 2003, and have been the only party since to campaign against them.
"Tuition fees are an aggressive tax on the aspirations of thousands of young people. I for one would not have been able to take advantage of higher education if I'd had to pay for it, and I wouldn't be where I am today.
"It is hypocritical of those MPs who sit in the Commons today having benefitted from a University Education to close the doors on all those who come after them."
Paul added:
"People in Sheffield Central have a choice in the next election: A campaigning MP who will stand up for all sections of the community. Or another of Gordon Brown's 'yes men', who will toe the party line."
