Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Sheffield Central, has today outlined the five main themes he is promising local people if elected at the coming General Election.
The seat promises to be a key battleground in the fight between Lib Dems and Labour in the North, with just a handful of votes potentially separating the two parties.
Paul Scriven said:
"Fairness and change that works for local Sheffielders will be at the heart of what I and the Liberal Democrats will be offering. I promise five real changes that will help local people.
"Fair taxes by raising the limit before you pay income tax to £10,000, that will put £700 back in ordinary taxpayers' pockets.
"An extra £30m for local primary schools in Sheffield to give every child the best start in life. The money can be used by schools for anything from smaller class sizes to extra one-to-one tuition.
"More green jobs including the electrification of the Sheffield to London line. The Liberal Democrats are the only party to have this scheme fully costed in their manifesto.
"The right to sack your MP if they have been proven to have done something wrong. This would mean before a general election local people would have the power to call a by-election to replace failed MPs.
"Fairness in higher education by abolishing Tuition Fees, so that young people can go to University based on merit, not their bank balance. The Liberal Democrats are the only major party with a plan to abolish Tuition Fees."
Paul Scriven added:
"These are, real costed policies that put fairness at the heart of what can be achieved for local people. As I have been going round speaking to local people, it's clear that they want a real change. These five promises I am making show real change that will work for real people right here in Sheffield."
