Paul at Portland Works
Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat prospective MP for Sheffield Central, today visited Sheffield's historic Portland Works and called for it to be rescued from the threat of redevelopment.
Tenants at the works, some of whom were running family businesses that had been based at the works for nearly a century, voiced their fears about the threat to the historical site.
Paul Scriven said:
"Portland Works is a greatly admired piece of Sheffield's rich industrial history. Having had the opportunity to see, first-hand, the high quality work that takes place in this historically significant works, I am resolute that everything must be done to save them.
"I have long been committed to preserving Sheffield's unique industrial heritage. Losing Portland Works would not only be a blow to our heritage, but also a personal tragedy for tenants who rely on the workspace. Tenants can be assured that I am fully behind the campaign to save Portland Works."
