Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Sheffield Central, has today pledged that, if elected, he will not take a second job lobbying for a private company.
In a letter to local papers, Paul Scriven made clear his position, declaring that MPs' "first priority, their first job, their first loyalty has got to be to the needs of their constituents."
The pledge follows revelations in The Sunday Times (Mar 28) regarding Sheffield Central's current Labour MP Richard Caborn. The Sunday Times reported that Caborn had been secretly recorded offering to exploit his government contacts and experience, to help commercial clients for fees of up to £2,500 a day.
Paul Scriven has said he is "appalled" by the behaviour of Richard Caborn.
