Paul Scriven at the Burma rally in Sheffield

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Paul Scriven attended and spoke at a rally held in Sheffield city centre to show solidarity with the people of Burma. The rally called on the military junta in the country to restore democracy to the people of Burma who have been subjected to the brutal regimes crackdown since pro-democracy protests began.

Paul addressed the rally and told them he believes everyone should be entitled to human rights, democracy and freedom no matter where they live on the planet. Paul has called on the international community, including the UK Government, to do all it can to put an end to the self-imposed military regime. Sheffield has a large community of Burmese refugees and Paul was delighted to support them in their call to restore democracy in their homeland.
