Local Liberal Democrats have taken their campaign to save Sheffield Post Office's to Number 10 Downing Street. Under the Labour Government plan up to 2,500 Post Offices will close nationally, with Sheffield set to find out which of it's local branches are earmarked for closure in August. Cllr Paul Scriven, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Sheffield Central, traveled down to London to help present a national petition against Labour's planned closures. Paul has been leading the campaign to save Post Offices in Sheffield.

Paul met up with Liberal Democrat Shadow Business Secretary Sarah Teather MP who has headed the campaign nationally. Liberal Democrats are the only national party to come up with a costed plan to save the Post Office network.

Cllr Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Sheffield Central, said: -

"Post offices are the lifeblood of many communities across Sheffield, particularly when they are combined with other services, such as the local shop. When the local post office closes other services and shops often follow suit, which can be devastating for the community."

"I know that Sheffield people value their local Post Office, therefore I was pleased to help present the Liberal Democrat petition against Labours 2,500 closures. Lib Dems are the only ones with a plan to keep our Post Offices open."

"In August the Government will announce which Post Office's in Sheffield are earmarked for closure. Local Liberal Democrats will be ready to fight against any closures within our popular Post Office network as we know just how important they are to local people."
