The local Burmese community and Paul Scriven have thanked the people of Sheffield for generously donating to help those affected by the Burma Cyclone disaster. Over the weekend collections were held in three locations. Outside the Town Hall, on the Moor and at the Peace Gardens. Local people generously donated £2,563 - all going direct to help those ht by the cyclone in Burma. The Burmese Karen Community were supported by local Paul Scriven. H Too Ku Hsar Say, Chairwoman of the Sheffield Burmese Karen Community, said: - "I would like to thank all those who have supported the effort over the weekend , to help those people in Burma hit by this terrible cyclone. Sheffield people have shown they care by donating and the money raised will go directly to those in need in Burma" Cllr Paul Scriven, Parliamentary Spokesperson for Sheffield Central, said: - "The way in which Sheffield people have dug into their pockets is tremendous. I would like to that the local Karen community for organising this and in doing so helping local people to help get aid to those in need in Burma"
